Tech And The Future

Tim O’Reilly is a VC out of Silicon Valley. He started O’Reilly Media. He also is a partner at OATV.  Politically, Tim leans pretty left. Interesting to hear what he thinks about the future of our society as it relates to technological innovation. He was born in Ireland and came to the US. Educated at Harvard.

I looked up a little information on him and found these quotes attributed to him. I love the quotes.

Who was the first person to fly across the Atlantic? Lindbergh. Who was the second? No idea.

The network is opening up some amazing possibilities for us to reinvent content, reinvent collaboration.

I agree with him, it takes 30 years for innovation to manifest itself with full power into an economy.  I first learned that in a macroeconomic class at Chicago Booth from my professor David Altig.  I had never thought about it seriously before but it’s true.  A new generation needs to learn about the tech in order to maximize it’s value.  Sometimes infrastructure has to be built.  Sometimes a generation needs to die away.

    Oh, come on.

The first woman and the second “person” to fly across the Atlantic Ocean was …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. Amelia Earhart. Let’s clear that’s “nonstop and solo” crossing.

    Ask an aviator.
