My wife and I are up in the wine country of California for the weekend. We used to come out here a lot until life got in the way.
On the way up we stopped at Arrowwood Winery. It’s one of my favorites. I opened a bottle of 1991 Cabernet Sauvingion at my daughter’s 21st birthday party. It was nice-and it wasn’t their reserve. We picked up a bottle of Syrah and then stopped at a roadside stand for strawberries, and a grocer for some charcuterie and cheese. Perfect dinner.
Yesterday, we walked around the town of Healdsburg. We didn’t go downtown, but we walked through the neighborhoods.
It was awesome to smell the flowers! Some of the orange trees had fruit on them. How cool would it be to wake up in the morning and pick an orange for breakfast!
Lavender and jasmine scented our walk. The houses weren’t massive. Just a nice neighborhood.
Today we are headed to the Russian River Valley. Some of my favorite wineries are there and I will try to put some photos on Instagram. Dehlinger will be a for sure stop.
Tomorrow we will do the Dry Creek Valley. Those two areas of the wine country in California are the prettiest in my opinion.
