49 Years Ago Today Sgt Pepper Taught the Band To Play

They call it the British invasion.  But really, it was just the Beatles. Here is their first Ed Sullivan appearance

It’s been chronicled many times before. The Beatles were radically different than anything the American public had seen. The post WW2 generation was busy rebuilding their country.

Radical change like this only happens once. You have to be great to be the company/person/rock group that affects that change. The crossover from popular music in 1961 to the Beatles on Ed Sullivan in 1964 wouldn’t have happened if the Beatles weren’t superb craftsmen at the very top of their game.

The cool thing about the Beatles. Once they radically transformed the music we wanted to listen to, they kept innovating every day until they broke up in 1970.
