Yesterday, Shawn Carpenter the CEO of Ycharts presented at Stocktoberfest.  It’s the investor festival being hosted by Howard Lindzon of  the highly innovative Stocktwits.  From what I heard Shawn did a good job.  Doesn’t surprise me because Shawn is a great CEO.  He also is a great presenter, and I have seen his presentation a few times now over the years.

His company keeps getting better and better.

When Dick Johnson of NBC5 News in Chicago did a story on the start up community in Chicago.  We hooked him up with Ycharts.  Not only because we knew Shawn would be great, but because Ycharts is a great example of a company that uses DNA from it’s surrounding physical area to turn ideas and concepts on their head and make something pretty cool.

Shawn has a new iteration of Ycharts out.  They are Platinum baby! Platinum Pro actually. More features and benefits than anything else on the market, especially at the price he is charging. I spoke with Nick Kocinski on Wednesday, and the reception so far has been great. Customers are signing up.  Ycharts is also hiring.  Doing what they can to help the unemployment numbers!

Carpenter sees financial thinkers who value an integrated data product backed with powerful analytics as the Platinum Pro target. This includes everyone from midsized investment banks to venture capitalists to hedge fund managers to research analysts. “It’s all about giving people true analytical power while saving time and easing the headaches that almost always seem to come with large-scale data analysis,” he says.

Hey, he’s even on the Colbert Report now. (28 seconds in)
