The Perspective Of Immigrants
- Posted by Jeff Carter

Sometimes it helps to get the perspective of immigrants to America. I remember once when I was going to make an investment in some foreign real estate. I spoke with a person who defected from behind the Iron Curtain and he said, “Why would you invest anywhere else? This is the greatest country in the world.”. I didn’t invest.
Thomas Peterffy came to America and built an innovative business, Interactive Brokers. He isn’t some half cocked right wing nut job. He sees America through a different set of eyes than people born here. I love to speak with immigrants to get their perspective.
He was born in 1944. Emigrated here in 1965. Started his big business in 1993. If he can do it, so can you. But only if conditions stay fertile for that type of entrepreneurship.
