It’s 9/11 today.

Always a melancholy day for me. In August of that year, we went on a trip to Colorado. I lost my entire house to a gasket leak while we were gone. 14,000 gallons of water. My family and I were living out of a hotel.

I took the train to work that fateful day. Just like NYC, Chicago had glorious weather. On the open, I bought 40 Eurodollar contracts. The market started down. Mike (Moon) Mullins, who runs the Illinois Wolves basketball program, started buying. I went from being down a couple of grand to scratch. Sold Mike the 40. Then we looked up.

I will never forget the faces on the fellas at the Cantor Fitzgerald desk as long as I live. Blank stares. Frantic dialing.

A month later one of my best friends passed away from a bacterial infection. But, with all that, I am alive. My family is safe. I learned a lot of lessons about stuff and what’s important.

I know one person that was in the north towerTower Two that made it out. I am sure there are plenty of readers of this blog that can share more harrowing stories. Feel free to share anything you want in the comments. It seems so far away now. But, to some, it feels like yesterday. God rest their souls. We can never forget them, or that day. Never.
