Chicago Cubs Owner Leads Bike Ride

The Cubs have gotten a lot of flak from columnists this year. I think 99% if it is pretty unfair. You don’t turn around a losing franchise in one year. Let them breathe.
However, on non-baseball stuff they are making progress. You can criticize them for not dealing with Illinois politicians correctly, but they aren’t the only ones with problems in Illinois.
One of the less known things that the Cubs owners do is a lot of charity work. Tomorrow, bicycle riders will engage on a 100 mile bike ride from Wrigley to Miller Park in Milwaukie to support World Bike Relief. It’s the second year they have done it.
They are lead out of town by members of the Chicago Police Department’s bicycle unit. The charity, World Bike Relief, raises money to donate special bikes for people in Africa. It makes a difference in their lives.
I’d appreciate it if the officers leading the charity peloton out of Chicago were Cubs fans and not Sox fans. Good luck to all the riders and I hope you have a safe ride.
